Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small pieces of information stored by a browser for a website. Local storage can also keep information on a device. Scripts and other technologies can access information, even when they do not use a conventional cookie.

The purpose matters. A preference record used to remember your choice is not the same as an identifier used for website measurement. This page explains AutoEscape’s browser-storage configuration.

The tools do not need cookies

HTML, JSON String, URL, Regex and Markdown conversions run in the browser without conversion cookies or a stored snippet history. The tool code does not deliberately place your input or output in local storage.

A downloaded file and copied text are actions you request; they are not an analytics cookie. Other website services are separate from the workbench.

Storage used by this site

Google Analytics cookies are relevant only after analytics has been enabled and you have allowed it. The configuration below deliberately uses a shorter expiry than Google’s general default.

Name / providerPurposeConfigured duration

AutoEscape · local storage

_ga_*
Google Analytics
Maintains information associated with the relevant analytics stream/session.Up to 12 months in the site’s configuration; the exact name includes a stream-related suffix.

Cookie expiry and Google’s server-side data-retention setting are different things. Browser behavior can shorten a stored cookie’s life. This list does not include advertising cookies, because display advertising is not currently active.

Necessary and operational features

The privacy-choice record is used to respect the option you request, including rejection. WordPress may use necessary authentication or security cookies when an authorised user signs in or uses a relevant administrative feature; ordinary tool conversion does not require an AutoEscape login.

Contact Form 7 being installed does not by itself establish that Google reCAPTCHA or another tracking integration is active. No such additional service is authorised by the analytics choice described here. If another integration is enabled, its behavior and applicable choices must be reflected in this policy.

Accept, reject or change your choice

The privacy control offers Accept analytics, Reject analytics and Settings. The settings panel keeps analytics off unless you actively choose it. Necessary preference storage is separate from the optional analytics toggle.

Google’s analytics script is not loaded by the site’s integration before permission. Rejecting analytics does not prevent you from using the tools or reading guides. There is no requirement to accept measurement to obtain access.

Use Privacy settings in the footer at any time to reopen the panel. Saving a rejection stops future measurement through this integration and deletes matching analytics cookies accessible to the site. It does not undo processing that has already taken place.

Browser controls

Your browser can show stored cookies, delete them and control future storage. Clearing the privacy-choice record means the site may ask you to choose again. Blocking storage can prevent the preference from being remembered between visits, but does not require analytics to be enabled.

Google also offers an Analytics opt-out browser add-on for supported browsers. These additional controls do not replace the site’s responsibility to honour the choices provided here.

If advertising is introduced

Mediavine is a possible future provider. Display ads and their associated tracking are not currently active. An advertising rollout will require updated disclosures and the appropriate operational consent and privacy-choice mechanisms.

The controls provided here are for Google Analytics. They are not a Mediavine-certified consent-management platform and must not be reused as approval for interest-based advertising.
