URLs: a value and a whole address are different jobs.

A URL is not just text. Some characters divide it into pieces. A question mark starts a query, an ampersand can separate query parameters, and a slash separates path segments. Encoding the right piece keeps your content from being mistaken for that structure.

Component mode: for one value

Choose Component / query value when you are encoding a search phrase, a parameter value or an individual path segment. This mode uses encodeURIComponent. It encodes separators such as ampersands and slashes because they belong to the value, not the URL structure.

BEFORE / INPUT
tea & coffee / کراچی
AFTER / OUTPUT
tea%20%26%20coffee%20%2F%20%DA%A9%D8%B1%D8%A7%DA%86%DB%8C

If you are building a query parameter, encode its value before attaching it to the URL. Encoding the entire completed URL in Component mode would encode its structural separators too.

Full URL mode: keep the address structure

Choose Full URL when the input already is an address and you need URI encoding while preserving separators. This mode uses encodeURI. A space in a path can become %20 while the colon, slashes and query delimiters remain intact.

BEFORE / INPUT
https://example.com/my folder?q=hello world&view=list
AFTER / OUTPUT
https://example.com/my%20folder?q=hello%20world&view=list

Full URL mode does not figure out which ampersands are part of a value and which separate parameters. If a parameter value contains an ampersand, encode that value separately. Structure is something you decide, not something this tool can safely infer.

Decoding and the plus-sign detail

Spaces are encoded as %20, not +. A plus sign in the input remains a plus sign on decoding. Some web forms use a different convention where plus means space; this tool is not a form-data parser.

Full URL decoding uses decodeURI, which deliberately keeps percent-encoded URI separators encoded. To decode a specific value fully, use Component mode. Broken percent sequences or invalid encoded Unicode produce an error rather than a partial, misleading result.

Encoding does not validate a destinationAn encoded URL can still point somewhere unsafe or be structurally wrong. This tool does not check the domain, approve a URL scheme, follow redirects or test whether an address exists.
